Colonial Regions

Life in the colonies was different in each region. The geography, climate, and natural resources of each region contributed to these differences. There were three separate regions: New England, the Mid-Atlantic, and the South.

Each region had its own way of making money - or its own economy. Geography and natural resources were important factors in decided what would be the key to each region's economy.

Each region had its own social life as well. For this assignment, you will create a newsletter describing each of the regions, including the similarities and differences between each region's geography, climate, economy, and social life.

Assignment

Open the newsletter template, save it to your My Documents folder, and follow the instructions on the template. Be sure to delete the instructions after you have read them!

The newsletter is formatted into columns and has three sections. The first section is for New England, the second section is for the Mid-Atlantic, and the third section is for the Southern region.

There are image placeholders within the brochure template - the placeholders look like gray cameras. You should replace these image placeholders with more appropriate clip art images. Click here for directions on how to use clip art with Word 2007. Use the following search terms when searching for clip art images as described in the directions (spelling counts!):

Virginia, Georgia, New England, Massachusettes, Plymouth, Pennsylvania, tobacco plants, farmer, slave, plantation, pilgrim, puritan, William Penn
