About
Virginia
What
are the five regions of Virginia? The answer is, the Appalachian
Plateau, the Valley
and Ridge, the Blue
Ridge, the Piedmont,
and the Coastal Plain.
Here's a trick to help you remember that: A
Very Big
Piece of Cake.
Which states border Virginia? That's easy: Maryland,
West Virginia, Kentucky,
Tennessee, and North
Carolina - My Wacky
Kids Talk
Nonsense! You learned
all about that in class. What bodies of water border Virginia?
Why, the Atlantic Ocean and the Chesapeake Bay, of course!
What
about Virginia's rivers? You learned about the Potomac,
the Rappahannock, the
York and the James
- Please Remember
Your Jacket.
See how smart you are? You know all of this because you
were in class when your teacher taught you all about Virginia.
But what if you weren't in school those days?
Imagine that your very best friend has missed
school every day that you learned about Virginia and just
came back to school today. Your teacher is giving the class
a test tomorrow. Your friend panics and comes to you for
help. If he or she fails the test, mom and dad will take
away his or her iPod, cell phone, and CD collection - and
and your friend will not be allowed to go outside, except
to go to school, until New Year's Day!! You decide to be
a hero and help out by creating a study guide for the test
in Power Point.
Creating a Power Point Presentation:
- Download the Power
Point template for your study guide here.
Save the file to your "My Documents" folder.
- Open your "My Documents"
folder and double-click on the "Virginia_Template"
Power Point file.
- On the first slide, you need to
type your name. On the second slide, you need to fill in
the table with all of the appropriate information for each
region.
- On the following five slides, you
need to find a picture to represent each region. You may
use the links below to help you find these pictures.
- Next, there are four slides, each
with the name of one of Virginia's rivers. On each slide,
you must enter the cities located near each river.
- You also need to find a
picture to represent each river. You may use the links below
to help you find these pictures.
- On the last slide, you need to fill
in the correct language of each Native American tribe of
Virginia. Now your friend will be sure to pass the test!
Use the following links to help you
find images to use in your presentation:

Once you have added the information
and pictures, you can "spice up" your presentation
by adding design themes, colors and transitions. Open the
